Kenai River Float, Cooper Landing

If you have a half day to kill and want to relax while somebody else shows you the scenery, a Kenai River Float trip may be for you. The river trip starts in Cooper Landing and ends 11 miles downstream after passing at least 3 eagles nests!

Not 10 minutes into the float trip we spotted an inhabited bald eagle's nest. We found 3 in all, one of which was commondered by a pair of great horned owls.

Several waterfalls emptied snowmelt into creeks that fed the Kenai River.

A pair of common mergansers are unsure about the man with the large camera lens floating mysteriously by them.

Occasionally you can find beaver damage to some of the trees along any given river. I don't remember seeing any beaver dams or lodges, though.

I didn't realize they made life vests for dogs.

The end of the trip - it took quite the 3-person effort to get the second raft on top of the first. We went 11 river miles and experienced zero rapids. A really nice way to spend the afternoon.
