We found this photogenic Australian pelican waiting for
some excitement next to his fisherman pal in Hervey Bay.

Humpback whales were easy to see in Hervey Bay. We
arrived just at the tail end of the season. Many of the
whales had babies like this one, some only weeks old.

When the tide went out on Lady Elliot Island, we took this
picture of a small brain coral just by standing
over it. The water was just barely deep enough for it to
survive.

A blue starfish survives low tide by hanging out in
shallow water off of Lady Elliot Island.

A warped picture of a parrotfish in the snorkeling
area of Green Island. Parrotfish were everywhere, and each
was a different color and pattern. They get their name
because their heads resemble those of parrots.

We saw a pair of loggerhead sea turtles in the snorkeling
area off the beach of Green Island. They came up for a
breath about once every 2-3 minutes. The snorkelers really
enjoyed trying to keep up with them.
