Most of the English-translated signs I saw in China looked fine. But there were a few that just didn't translate correctly into English. Some of them are very funny, some are completely unintelligible.

Please be quiet.

01-funny-chinese-sign

Beware, dangerous section

02-funny-chinese-sign

Do not go beyond this sign.

03-funny-chinese-sign

Self Explanatory

04-funny-chinese-sign

By "Wide Vision" I think they mean scenic views

05-funny-chinese-sign

Not a funny translation, just very weird that the Chinese would name anything Yosemite.

06-funny-chinese-sign

Very strange. Perhaps they are afraid of telekenesis or something?

07-funny-chinese-sign

Sage advice in any country or language.

08-funny-chinese-sign

Don't do anything.

09-funny-chinese-sign

Don't ask me why.

10-funny-chinese-sign

This is the lamest reason for not climbing a wall I've ever seen. Unless they meant it was OK to climb any time EXCEPT during a thunderstorm.

11-funny-chinese-sign

At this place you could dress up in ancient Chinese clothes and have your picture taken - similar to how we do it in the USA with old cowboy western gear. The sign still makes no sense whatsoever.

12-funny-chinese-sign

In beautiful and expensive brass it says "Forty Topping Tourist Attractions of China" when they probably mean that it's one of the top 40 attractions.

13-funny-chinese-sign

Bottom sign - no graffitti

14-funny-chinese-sign

Notice that Noclimbing is one word.

15-funny-chinese-sign

This is my favorite since I still can't quite figure out what they really mean. Maybe just Don't Litter?

16-funny-chinese-sign

Now they are making up new English words such as "visitace."

17-funny-chinese-sign

Watch for pickpockets

18-funny-chinese-sign

I guess it's OK to litter to the left or diagonally behind you.

A great example of all the western shirts everyone wears with English on them that just doesn't quite make sense. I saw many such shirts, including one that actually said, "this shirt has red and white lettering on it." \n\nThe funny thing about this shirt is that they felt compelled to explain who it was on the front of the shirt.

This was seen in the Shanghai Pudong Airport of all places. And you can see a smork detector right above the sign.

21-funny-chinese-sign

Shanghai Airport warning.
