The Galapagos Islands were my last stop on my July 2002 South America tour after visiting Peru. Each of the equatorial islands I visited on this Galapagos tour was different. They varied in terrain, plantlife, wildlife, size, and even breeding schedules.

The voyage was only 4 days, and a number of sights were similar between stops, so instead of a blow-by-blow account of everything, I arranged this section by animal. After all, you're not going to take a Galapagos cruise for the shopping, entertainment, and 24-hour buffets.

It's the animals that make the Galapagos special. Many are seen nowhere else in the world. You can't help but get very close to them so they are easy to photograph. It is also very easy to observe their behaviors - feeding, courting, breeding. And on any Galapagos Island, there's a new species to see around every turn.

If you are an animal lover and a travel lover, the Galapagos Islands are for you. Let me inspire you with my photos and Galapagos travel accounts. To get ready for your trip, check out my preparation section. When you can't stand it anymore and you just have to find more information on your own Galapagos travel vacation, any one of our partners would be happy to help!
