Epilogue

My last 2+ days of the trip were spent traveling.

On Tuesday I got up to catch the 10:00a bus around Torres del Paine National Park. The weather was poor so it wasn't as scenic as I would have liked. The bus left the park at 4:00p for Puerto Natales. I arrived in Puerto Natales at 6:00p with time to spare for dinner before my next bus to Punta Arenas left at 7:00p. I got into Punta Arenas at about 10:00p and found inexpensive lodging.

The next morning my wake up call got me up with plenty of time to catch my waiting cab (that's pretty good service for a hostel!) to the airport. My flight left that Wednesday at 8:45a.

From Punta Arenas I flew to Santiago. When I got off the plane I had to find my flight to Buenos Aires. The ticket lady told me in somewhat broken English that I needed to go to the other airport. Oh great. Where is the other airport? It's across the street. She meant "other terminal."

So from Santiago I flew to Buenos Aires. 5 hour layover there before I caught my next flight to Chicago. I sat behind a 4-year-old boy who liked standing on his chair and talking to me. I was so excited that I could keep up with his Spanish after all of this practice in South America. That flight landed a full hour early at 6:15a the next day. I waited around for my Phoenix flight which brought me home at 11:30a Thursday (on that flight I talked the ear off a woman from Bauch and Lomb telling her all about my adventures). My girlfriend was anxiously awaiting my arrival home after being gone for three weeks.

Two months after my return home, I still find myself thinking about my amazing trip to Antarctica. I will definitely return for a longer stay.
