Pacific Coast Highway 1 is arguably the most scenic drive in the United States. The best part of Highway 1 stretches from Monterrey down to San Luis Obispo along the California coast. This section is just north of San Simeon where the Hearst Castle is. On the left you see the Piedras Blancas Lighthouse, which was closed for renovation when I was there. Piedras Blancas is Spanish for white rocks.
