Machu Picchu is one of the seven man-made wonders of the world.  Seeing the Inca Empire ruins in person is literally jaw-dropping.

Machu PIcchu was used exclusively as a royal retreat.  Most of the time the Inca Emperor was busy in Cusco.  When he wanted a vacation, he and his entourage came here.  The Machu Picchu site was staffed all year long in anticipation of a royal visit at any time.

Wayna Picchu Hike - You can hike up the mountain usually found in the background of most postcard shots, like the one I took on my panorama page.  It's essentially all stairs.  When you get to the top you won't believe what you see.
