Plants and Scenery of the Amazon Rainforest

The views across the Tambopata River are spectacular. And in the thick of the jungle, you'll find the widest variety of plants ever. Except that they are all green and look alike to the untrained eye.

$We saw this incredible flower on our night hike. The reason it's incredible is that my guide had never ever seen it before, and she was very experienced, plus I was the one who spotted it. She guessed that it bloomed only at night, and that it was perhaps pollenated by bats or some other nocturnal flying animal. If you know the name of this flower, please let me know else I'll claim it as a newly discovered species.\n\nStrangely, I was the only person interested in the night hike. I think it was more a factor of the rest of the tourists just being very tired than people being uninterested or afraid. Anyway, if you get a chance to go on a night hike in the Peruvian Amazon, definitely take it.
