Where are these flowers?
These flowers are just off the US-60 Florence Junction exit. From Phoenix take US-60 east past Peralta trailhead and
exit onto highway 79 towards Florence. At the exit make a left under the US-60 bridge and park in the lot at the
T-intersection immediately therafter. The flowers should be quite evident back across the street.
Here is a map.
What time of year did you go?
Mid-March 2005. Earlier than that you risk not having as many flowers blooming, later you risk too many dead flowers.
Are the flowers there every year?
Not sure. But in 2005 there was an exceptional amount of rain which I'm sure helped a lot.
What were the conditions when you took these?
For the most part, cloudy and windy believe it or not. Overcast is the best conditions for closeup flower pictures. It brings
out the colors like you wouldn't believe. Sunny days can create a lot of unwanted/distracting specular highlights and shadows.
Wind usually makes for poor photographs, but I didn't do too bad. Don't have to deal with a pesky tripod in the wind, anyway,
since the flowers are shaking more than your camera.
