Where did you take these pictures?
for a detailed map that shows Black Point Drive in the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge.
How long is this drive?
The drive is about 15 miles. There's a flat hike you can do near the lookout tower if you want to get out of your
car and stretch.
How close were you to these animals
Very close. Most of them were just outside the car window about 10 feet away.
Any tips for taking pictures here?
Stay in your car. The birds don't treat cars as a threat. If you get out of your car you are likely to scare your subject
away. Instead, keep your windows rolled down and maneuver your car appropriately. When you get to your subject, consider
turning off the engine to avoid camera shake.
When is the best time to go
A lot of these birds are here for the winter, so late December through mid February would be the best time.
