White Sands National Monument is made of drifting, blinding gypsum. Bring your sunglasses!!!! Roads will take you in quite a ways, and you can hike/scale as many dunes as you like. They aren't that high, maybe 2-3 stories at the most. You'll see intricate ripples and the occasional plant such as this soaptree yucca.
